The Company was established by Ashok Kumar Saraf, resident of Dhuliyan, Murshidabad, West Bengal in 2003.
A biri, or bidi, is a thin, hand-rolled cigarette containing tobacco flakes wrapped in a tendu leaf and secured with a string. As an indigenous product of the Indian subcontinent, it is distinct from conventional cigarettes in its manufacturing process, affordability, and cultural significance.
The biri industry is predominantly a cottage industry, with millions of workers, the vast majority of whom are women, rolling bidis in their homes.
